New Covenant has several procedures in our lunch room to safeguard the health of students with peanut and other food allergies. We alert faculty and staff to children with these allergies, our cleaning procedures reduce exposure between classes, and the sharing of food is prohibited in the cafeteria among younger children.
In addition, we offer a peanut free zone for students in Pre-K – 4th grade. Only children with peanut/nut allergies sit in this area and the lunches of adjacent children will be examined by the lunch staff for food containing peanuts/nuts.
Although food served in the New Covenant Cafe may be safe for students with food allergies, we cannot guarantee that this is so. Parents are asked to speak with the school nurse about this important issue before school begins.
