Approach
Math and science are central to a liberal arts curriculum, and thus, they are important to New Covenant Schools. We maintain a state of the art science laboratory to ensure that our students have the very best opportunity available in science at the secondary level.
Training in the scientific method is emphasized. In addition students are given instruction in proper methods of research, documentation, and written and lab report presentation across the science curriculum.
Courses
The lab is home to upper school students who take any of our four laboratory sciences: biology, chemistry, physics, and AP Biology. Math is offered through AP Calculus.
Equipment
The lab is equipped with a central demonstration table, microscope stations for up to 20 students, and counter space around the room served by propane outlets. A secure prep room insures that potentially hazardous materials are stored properly and safely, and a chemical fume hood (not pictured) allows for chemical experiments with adequate ventilation.
The lab is also linked to the computer network, the internet, and equipped with and audio/visual technology.
