Class Size
New Covenant enrolls 36 kindergarten students each year in three classes of 12. These two classes form two sections of 18 students thereafter. Qualified students who cannot be placed due to size limits may, upon acceptance, maintain a place in a wait pool. Openings do occur from time to time throughout the school, and mid-term placements are made selectively.

Design and Philosophy
Classrooms at New Covenant have been designed for small classes. Desks are arranged to support a teacher-directed classroom, and, although students may engage in cooperative learning from time to time, a classical approach favors direct instruction and mastery of prescribed content at this level. In kindergarten - 4th grades, lockers are located in the classroom, and students change classes only for special disciplines such as art, music, library, physical education, and chapel. In 2nd grade and above students actively participate in chores and housekeeping, in addition to the personal space of their own desk.

Security
Each teacher is linked to the internet via the server, and each room is wired to the master intercom system. A phone is also provided in each room for the use of the teacher. All external doors to the building are locked after drop-off each morning. The school maintains a comprehensive emergency plan that is filed with the police department and reviewed each year.
