The campus is built around a central space creating a 'commons' which provides an "inside," yet outside area. In fair weather, it is used for functions or gatherings, such as picnics, musical concerts, and our annual spring auction. Every fall it serves as the perfect location for The Blessing of the Animals, when grammar school students bring their pets to school on the Feast of St. Francis. Students often use the courtyard for lunch with their friends, but also for studying and reading. Classes can often be found here with their teachers, books and tablets in hand, seeking a quiet place to discuss their lessons, and to enjoy some fresh air. The courtyard is bounded by the chapel and the library. |
