C.S. Lewis

"We believe that the truth is more than a system; but we also believe that the truth is one, even as God is one. We believe, therefore, that the truth is systematic, and that the different truths are related."
C. S. Lewis

New Covenant Schools is an educational community that has attracted a dedicated faculty of qualified professionals who hold at least the B.A. degree or have special training in their fields. Many have taken selective graduate training or obtained higher degrees.

Nearly all members of our faculty are certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia, although New Covenant Schools does not require this designation. Certification, however, is encouraged and compensated. Our emphasis, rather, is upon competency and a dedication to life-long learning within the classical and Christian tradition. Thus, New Covenant commits significant funds in its operating budget each year for on-going teacher training and education.

Faculty development also includes a voluntary mentoring program in which new faculty members are paired to more experienced teachers. In this program they are developed in various aspects of teaching, lesson preparation, classical curriculum, classroom management, etc. Administrators at New Covenant maintain direct involvement in the classroom, sometimes teaching classes, as well as involvement with faculty mentoring and on-going curriculum development.

New Covenant also maintains a dynamic Faculty Forum that meets regularly for lectures by members of the faculty, films, guest speakers, or for discussion of issues relevant to specific disciplines. Our desire to produce students who are life long-learners is matched by our personal commitment to life-long learning, not only in each of our disciplines, but through interaction in the academic and practical experiences of our peers.
