New Covenant Schools maintains an intramural sports program for students in third and fourth grades. Students meet once weekly during the fall, winter and spring to work on the fundamentals of soccer and basketball. Students in grades 5 and higher experience athletics as part of the school day. They are required to be physically active in athletics, even if they do not choose to join the team that plays others schools.
The intramural program in middle school is gender-segregated, and teaches the the importance of life-long, healthy activity and the lessons of team play. Because it is part of the regular schedule of the school day it does not require transportation from parents. Students are given instruction in a variety of sports, and enjoy a tournament quarterly.
Instruction is given in soccer, basketball, badminton, flag football, volleyball, floor hockey, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee.
