New Covenant is accepting applications for the 2016 school year and beyond. To request admissions information, call 434.847.8313, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Applying is easy and can be done online here:
We seek to admit students from families who desire a classical, Christian education, and do not discriminate on the basis of ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Our tuition structure and our tuition assistance programs reflect this commitment.
Do you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 30?
Consider touring New Covenant and applying early. Nine out ten families who apply to New Covenant have taken a tour when classes are in session, which gives a candid snapshot of the whole K-12 program. For the kindergarten year we accept applications for students as young as three years of age. Each year we matriculate a kindergarten class of 36 students who move up to two first grades of 18 students in each section. It’s not too soon to consider how classical, Christian education can benefit your family.
We can help. Students transfer to New Covenant across the grades each year and we can assist in a smooth transition. You are welcome to tour the school with your student; better yet, allow your child to join his class for a day of shadowing. We can accommodate you on one day’s notice in most cases. Please note that if your student is transferring in the junior or senior year, his or her application will be handled directly by the Academic Dean and the Guidance Office.
Moving to Central Virginia?
New Covenant Schools admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, tuition assistance, athletic and other school-administered programs.
If you are contemplating a move to Central Virginia or are visiting the area, we invite you to schedule a visit for a personal tour. Please contact the school office at 434.847.8313.
Q – n – A
When is the best time to apply for my kindergarten student? Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Early applicants are favored in the admissions process, and the school maintains an application list up to two years out. We advise that you submit your application in the fall (Sept – Nov) of the year before you plan to send your child to kindergarten.
What happens next? A family interview will be scheduled as soon as we receive your application.
Will my child be tested? Yes. New Covenant screens children with a developmental readiness test that is scored to a student’s age. We offer these screenings on the last two Saturdays in February, and by appointment thereafter.
When will I hear if my child is accepted? We try to make all of our kindergarten placements by March 10.
What if I don’t apply until later in the spring? When placements have been made in early March, available spaces are offered on a rolling basis. If the class is full your child may be placed in the wait pool.
I have a grammar school student; is the process different? Not really. We place students across the grades as openings are available.
How do I know if you have space? Just ask. We’re happy to let you know if we have room. Some classes are filled; others have a few openings, but rosters change from time to time.
