The fine arts are a major part of the liberal arts tradition at New Covenant. Students maintain their participation in the arts in three areas: music, art, and drama, and are required to complete a credit in each of these disciplines for graduation.
All students are required to study music through the tenth grade. The Upper School maintains a choir and a jazz band, both of which are performative. They give a major concert each spring. One of the finest and most unique traditions at New Covenant is the Annual Service of Lessons & Carols, given during Advent each year. Joining with their middle school counterparts, this traditional service includes readings of the story of redemption, highlighted by music, band and orchestral works from the student musical groups.
Art media and appreciation are both offered to the Upper School student. The art suite provides the facility for work in drawing, painting and three dimensional art.
Each year two dramatic productions are staged by Panache, New Covenant Schools drama troupe. In addition, Upper School students are required to take drama for credit at some point in their high school career where they learn back stage production and fundamentals of acting.
